The Bayelsa State House of Assembly, on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Pastor Peter Akpe as the state’s new Deputy Governor.
Before his new appointment, Akpe served as Chief of Staff, to Governor Douye Diri.
His appointment also comes bare two months after the death of former Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who died last November after a brief illness.
According to the Nigerian Constitution, a state governor is empowered to nominate a new Deputy in case of the demise of his deputy. The appointment is however subject to the confirmation of the State House of Assembly.
