Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has pledged to rebuild the looted public and private buildings which were destroyed during the nationwide violent protest that erupted in the area.
It was gathered that suspected hoodlums had hijacked the protest and embarked on destruction of public and privately owned buildings.
Properties destroyed include Katagum local government Secretariat in Azare part of which was set on fire, governor’s lodge, resident of a former deputy governor of the state, Baba Tela and another Islamiya school that was vandalized.
The governor, made the pledge when he visited Azare to assess the level of damage caused by the hoodlums who hijacked the #EndBadGovernance protest.
He also promised that the state government would renovate the Government Lodge that was vandalized during the incident last Monday.
Half of the Secretariat was set ablaze while other parts were looted including the Information and Communication Technology department where salary is being processed.
Mohammed said that the government would go to the drawing board to redesign the facility which is the seat of administration and the second biggest council in the state.
The governor pledged to support the ex-deputy governor, Baba Tela and another Islamiya school that was vandalized.
He however, urged the perpetrators of the incident to heed the warning of the government, adding that they hurt the people and themselves and not the government.
Mohammed visited the Emir of Katagum, Umar Farouq II where he expressed concerns about the government’s failure to cater for the needs of the youths, adding that the government has heeded the warning of teeming youths.
