The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the arrest of seven suspects believed to be behind the attack and robbery incident at a students’ hostel of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
The attack,which occurred on August 12, 2025, led to several students being injured qnd several property lost to the hoodlums.
The incident which also resulted in massive students protests led to the disruption of academic programmes and the closure of the Polytechnic for weeks by the management.
A statement on Friday, September, 12, 2025, by the spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command Ahmed Wakili, informed that the seven arrested suspects have confessed to being part of the gang that perpetrated the attack on the students’ hostel.
According to Wakili, the suspects also confessed to being behind the series of attacks and robbery incidents in parts of Yelwa, Birshi, Gandu, Gwallameji, and Birshin Fulani in recent times.
“They have unlawfully entered various residences, where they seized valuables, inflicted injuries on anyone who resisted, and occasionally fled to adjacent states to evade arrest.
“These unscrupulous youths are from various areas within Bauchi metropolis, including Lushi, Birshin Fulani, and Birshin Gandu .
“The suspects include: Mansur Yakubu, aged 20, also known as Chasu, residing in Lushi, Abbas Auwal, aged 20, also known as Abe Musa.
“Bala, aged 20, also called Baban Nani, a resident of Lushi, and Aliyu Ahmadu, aged 21, also known as Yellow,of Lushi.
” Others are Zurkarlaini Aliyu, aged 20, also known as Baki of Birshin Fulani, Muftahu Ibrahim, aged 20, also known as Dodo of Lushi, Hamza Bala aged 29, also known as R-Kelly of Lushi.
” The suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime and have implicated 13 additional accomplices including one Adamu Muhammad , popularly known as Daddy ,a resident of Birshin Fulani.
” Adamu Muhammad was apprehended by detectives attached to the Yelwa Divisional police headquarters on 1st September 2025″ the Police stated
According to the Police, the said Muhammad also admitted to participating in the armed robbery attack on the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
He was said to have confessed that the operation was carried out by no fewer than 20 suspected criminals drawn from Gandu, Lushi, Birshin Fulani, Birshin Gandu, as well as the larger Bauchi Metropolitan Area.
