“This evening, I received information that a post was made that doesn’t agree with my orders.  I use this to announce that any post without A.A. is not from me. May God protect us – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, Presidential  Aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has denied condemning the gruesome murder, on Thursday, May 12, 2022, of Deborah Yakubu. He said he made no such statement in condemnation of the horrifying act.

Deborah, a second year student of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, was stoned to death, and her body set on fire by her Muslim colleagues who alleged she committed blasphemy by speaking in an unflattering manner about Prophet Mohammed.

Nobody has yet been told exactly what she said, but her sickening, gruesome murder, videod and trending on Social Media platforms sparked off outrage within and outside the country.

One of those who condemned the barbaric inhuman act was Atiku.

In a tweet Atiku had written; “There cannot be a justification for such gruesome murder. Deborah Yakubu was murdered, and all those behind her death must be brought to justice. My condolences to her family and friends

But Atiku’s tweet did not go down well with Muslim fundamentalists who, in their hundreds, threatened they would never vote for him as Nigeria’s President.

Apparently under pressure, and fearing the damage the tweet would have on his Presidential ambition, Atiku has not only taken down the tweet, he has distanced himself from it.

Denying he condemned the murder, he released a rebuttal in Hausa language.

“This evening, I received information that a post was made that doesn’t agree with my orders. I use this to announce that any post without A.A. is not from me. May God protect us”

Unconfirmed reports say the former Vice President has also fired one of his Media Aides over the earlier tweet  which condemned Deborah’s murder.

Incidentally, as at the time of writing this, none of the scores of Presidential aspirants has had the guts to condemn Deborah’s blood-cuddling murder by her student-colleagues. They are all cautious of the votes it could cost them.
