The high profile Lagos Polo Club, founded in 1904, has descended heavily on a high profile member of the public. It has banned Chief Olu Okeowo “from entry into the Club premises either as a guest or otherwise until further notice.”
The otherwise respected Chief Okeowo attracted the anger of the Club when his Security Aides descended on a staff member for performing his duties.
Trouble started on Saturday, October 18, 2025, during an event – Reminiscent Event – which was held at the Club.
Chief Okeowo was a guest.
The Chief, it was gathered, attended the event in his Rolls Royce. His driver, this medium gathered, made to park the luxurious car at “members only enclosure”. But he was asked not to by a Club’s staff member identified as Pascal. But that did not go down well with the Chief’s Security aides who were angered that somebody dared stop the luxurious car, with the Chief inside it, from parking on the spot.
Before one could say a word, the security aides jumped down from their hilux, and, descended on the poor staff.
But, Chief Okeowo was in for a surprise. The humiliated staff reported to his superior identified as Kenny Aliu, who, on seeing the state of the staff, allegedly asked the Chief out of the premises.
The ugly incident was, thereafter, reported to the Main Committee of the Club which, after a thorough investigation, banned the Chief from the Club until further notice.
The letter banning him, signed by the Honourable Secretary, Adeyemi Oreagba, noted, among other things that “The Club places great importance on the welfare and dignity of all Club Staff who are empowered to enforce Club policies” It added: “We will have zero tolerance on any form of assault by members and guests against any staff of the Club.”
