Assault On Policeman: IGP Orders Arrest Of Late Fela’s Son, Seun

For assaulting a policeman on duty, the Inspector General of Police, (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba Ahmed has ordered immediate arrest of afro beat musician, Seun, son of legendary music, late Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

According to the son of Fela, the officer tried to kill him and his family.

Seun was quoted as saying to the officer, “You dey craze! You dey mad!” as he slapped the policeman.

It is unclear where the incident happened but the video has generated different reactions. It is also unclear what led to the action of the singer’s son.

“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.

“IGP Usman Alkali Baba assures Nigerians that acts of contempt/disdain for symbols of authority will not be tolerated while offenders of such hideous crimes will be surely brought to book.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday night.

The state by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, force spokesman reads, “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR has ordered the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command to arrest Afrobeat singer, Seun Kuti, who was captured on video assaulting a police officer in uniform.

“The IGP has equally ordered a speedy and full investigation into the remote and immediate cause(s) of the assault and prosecution of the suspect accordingly.
