Arthur Nzeribe To Be Buried On May 20, 2022

On Friday, May 20, 2022, Imo State and, especially, Oguta, will stand still. All eyes in Nigeria, literally, will be focused on Oguta. That is the day the body of Senator (Chief) Arthur Uzoma Nzeribe, the charismatic politician and accomplished businessman of many parts, will be laid to rest.

Nzeribe who died in a London hospital  will be buried at his Oguta country home Haven of Peace on that day after days-long funeral activities.

According to the  programme signed by  Chief George Moghalu, Chairman of the Burial Committee and Barr Enyinna Onuegbu, Secretary, Chief Nzeribe’s body will arrive Nigeria from London where he died to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, on Thursday, May 19.

It will proceed from there to Imo State through the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri.

However, funeral activities begin on May 17, 2022, with a Night of Tributes at the Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.

It will be followed on Wednesday, May 18,  with a valedictory Session at the Senate Chambers, National Assembly, Abuja.

On the same May 19, when the body would arrive Imo, there will be a Vigil Mass  at his home, The Haven of Peace, Oguta.

A Funeral High Mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oguta on May 20, followed by interment on the grounds of his home.

Condolence visits and more  Traditional Rites will follow on Saturday, May 21.

The programme will round up on Sunday, May 22, with an Outing Service at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oguta.

Chief Nzeribe passed in London on May 5, 2022, after a protracted illness.
