Appeal Court Sacks Abacha’s Son As PDP Governorship Candidate

The Court of Appeal, Kano State Division, has sacked Mohammed Abacha as the Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Kano State.

In a unanimous judgment read by the Honourable Justice Usman Musale, the three Justices of the Court ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC,  to recognize Sadiq Wali as the duly nominated Candidate of the Party.

INEC had, earlier, recognized Wali as the Candidate, but Abacha went to Court, and was adjudged the right Candidate. That prompted Wali to approach the Appeal  Court for justice.

That justice was given to him on Friday, 10th February, 2023,  by the Court of Appeal which declared that Abacha, a son of late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, did not participate in the PDP Primary Election, and therefore, could not have become the Candidate.

The Governorship Election is scheduled for 11th March, 2023.
