The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, has warned that it would not tolerate dual and questionable loyalty from any of its members, no matter how highly placed.
The APGA leadership in Abia State on Tuesday night September 23, 2025, issued Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe a 24-hour ultimatum to clarify his level of involvement in the emerging opposition Coalition platform, African Democratic Congress, ADC, or face disciplinary actions.
This is as Senator Abaribe insists that he remains a loyal and committed APGA member.
It will be recalled that the APGA in the count down to the 2023 general elections had offered its platform to Senate Abaribe after he was shut out by his former party ,the Peoples Democratic party PDP in favour of the then incumbent Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. Abaribe, however, trounced him at the polls.
The Source reports that of late, the longest-serving Abia Senator, has been featuring in the leadership struggle of ADC in Abia State, thus fueling strong speculations of a possible romance between the Senator representing Abia South District and the party.
The four-term Abia Senator has been alleged by the supporters of the erstwhile Chairman of ADC in the state Don Norman Obinna to be one of the architects of plots to oust him and hijack the party .
However, in a statement issued after its caucus meeting by its spokesperson, Chukwuemeka Nwokoro,
Tuesday evening, the APGA , while expressing discomfort over claims linking Senator Abaribe to the ADC, noted that the clarification has become necessary in view of the fact that no one person is allowed to belong to two different parties at the same time.
The party emphasized the importance of the Senator coming clean, concerning his alleged romance with the ADC.
The party noted that Senator Abaribe, despite being offered the APGA platform to realize his political ambition in 2023, has remained largely unconcerned about the prospect and survival of the party.
The party expressed regret that instead of identifying with the APGA , Senator Abaribe has rather been covertly and overtly sponsoring and promoting ADC activities.
According to the APGA, the ADC’s Abia State Chapter Secretary had, on a live radio programme, also claimed that Abaribe is now a card-carrying member of the party.
Nwokoro further noted that despite the avalanche of claims suggesting his romance with the ADC, Abaribe has continued to maintain studied a silence.
Failure to clarify his relationship with ADC, according to Nwokoro, will result in the APGA taking a disciplinary action against Senator Abaribe.
But while dismissing the ultimatum Uchenna Awom spokesperson for Abaribe, maintained that the Senator has been alive to his responsibilities as the leader of APGA in Abia State.
“Senate Abaribe is alive. As APGA leader in Abia State, the party has all the channels to access him. He doesn’t have any issues with them. They should write him and personally hear from him”, Awom submitted.
