The All Progressives Congress, APC, has lined up 13 Senior Advocates of Nigeria, SAN, to defend the electoral victory, in Court, of its Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The SANs will be led by a veteran in electoral cases, Prince Lateef Fagbemi.
Tinubu, the Candidate of the APC, was declared winner in the 25th February, 2023, Presidential election, by the Electoral Umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
But two of his co-contestants, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, rejected the results and proceeded to Court.
The three Candidates won the same number of States – 12 each – but Tinubu had more number of Votes than both Atiku and Obi according to INEC. While he scored 8, 794, 726, Atiku scored 6, 984, 520 and Obi, 6, 101, 533 votes.
However, conspicuously missing in the list of the 13 Senior Lawyers hired by the APC, is any Senior Lawyer of Igbo extraction.
The Senior Lawyers hired are: * Lateef Fagbemi ( Lead Counsel) *Ahmad El-Marzuq * Sam Ologunorisa *Rotimi Oguneso * Olabisi Syebo *Gbotega Oyewole *Muritala Abdulrasheed *Aliyu Saiki *Tajudeen Oladoja *Pius Akibo *Oluseye Opasanya *Suraju Saida *Kazeem Adeniyi.
The list of the Legal luminaries, with solid experience in election matters, was released in a statement issued on Tuesday by APC’s National Legal Adviser, Ahmad El-Marzuq.
