“Allow State Governors jump out of a wrecking ship” – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has reiterated the readiness of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), to welcome more defectors ahead of the next convention, now rescheduled for December.

President Tinubu who gave the assurance stated that “More state governors are still coming, that’s why we shifted our convention to December.

“Our doors are wide open and we must accommodate them all. They must be allowed to jump out from a wrecking ship and a coalition of confusion. Today, we have 23 governors, and very many more are still coming.”

Addressing APC governors before the commencement of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, the president approved the extension of tenure for the APC Ward, Local Government, and State Executive Committees across the country until December 31, 2025.

The party leadership assured stakeholders that the extension of executive tenures at the grassroots level would ensure stability, cohesion, and continuity as the APC embarks on a broader consolidation drive nationwide.

The President also unveiled plans to construct a new national secretariat for the Party in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“We’ll look for an appropriate land to build a befitting secretariat,” the President said, signaling the party’s readiness to begin the process of establishing a more suitable headquarters.

He, however, did not disclose the estimated cost or timeline for the project.

Currently, the APC operates from the Muhammadu Buhari House, located at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse II, Abuja.

The party acquired the property in 2021 for N2.5 billion and named it after former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Despite the Buhari House serving as the party’s national secretariat, Thursday’s NEC meeting was moved to the Presidential Villa, further underscoring the need for a more accommodating and representative facility.
