The Anglican Bishop of Egbu Diocese, Owerri, Imo State, The Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Okorafor, has derobed five Knights of the Council of Saint Christopher.
He took the action at the recent Chapter Meeting of the Council held at the All Saints Cathedral, ASCATH, Egbu.
The Chapter Meeting is the most important date in the annual calendar of Knights where they renew their oaths of allegiance.
According to Bishop Okorafor, “This is the first phase,” as more Knights are likely to be derobed in the very near future.
His Lordship attributed his action to the heavy indebtedness of the Knights to the Council, which many think signifies disinterest in the activities of the Council, thus affecting its running.
Bishop Okorafor also gave other heavy debtors a period of six months, to do the necessary or face the same fate which befell the five derobed Knights.
