The hemorrhage within the ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Anambra, and the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, continued this weekend in Anambra State with more high profile defections. The beneficiary is the All Progressives Cogress, APC.

One of the shocking defections from APGA to the APC, is that of the former Speaker of the Anambra House of Assembly, who was, also, a former State Commissioner, Mrs Rita Maduagwu.

From the PDP is, also, another shock-defector,  Mr John Emeka. Emeka was a former Federal Cabinet Member – Minister of State, Transport.

Gone to APC, too, are a former PDP Governorship aspirant, Chuma Nzeribe and the Party’s compere, Chris Chikwelu, along with many from Onitsha South and North LGAs, Anyamelu and Anambra East LGAs.

They, and many others, from the Yoruba and Hausa Communities defected to the APC during a grand reception for Senator Joy Emodi, a former PDP BOT member who defected to the APC.

Penultimate week, PDP Senator, Stella Oduah, Anambra North, former Aviation Minister during the Goodluck Jonathan Government, also dumped the PDP for the APC.

Last week, six Anambra  APGA House of Assembly members dumped the party, and defected to the APC. More members are, allegedly, on the line to defection.

Everyone of the defectors claim to have done so in order to put Anambra at the centre of things, and to make sure Senator Andy Uba wins the November 6, 2021 Governorship election.
