With the declaration of Ogene, a former member of the House of Representatives as winner of the election, calm has now returned to Ogbaru following the initial apprehension due to the delay by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in announcing the result of the election.

The LP had raised alarm on Monday over the delay by the electoral umpire to announce the winner more than 48 hours after the election had been concluded.

By that time, Ogene was already leading Arinzechukwu Awogu of APGA, and Chukwuka Onyema of the PDP his closest rivals with over 1500 votes.

Not a few members of the Ogbaru community informed the magazine that they are happy that Ogene has now been returned to the House of Representatives because they believe that he will give them quality representation in the nation’s Upper House.
