Victor Ogene, Labour Party, LP candidate has won the election for the Ogbaru, Anambra state Federal Constituency. Ogene, a veteran journalist and former Editor of The Source magazine defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and People’s Democratic Party, PDP, candidates in the February 25 election.
With the declaration of Ogene, a former member of the House of Representatives as winner of the election, calm has now returned to Ogbaru following the initial apprehension due to the delay by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in announcing the result of the election.
The LP had raised alarm on Monday over the delay by the electoral umpire to announce the winner more than 48 hours after the election had been concluded.
