The continued crisis in the Anambra State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has forced the National Working Committee, NWC, to extend the tenure of its Caretaker Committees at all levels.
The extension is for a further 30 days.
In doing that, the NWC said its decision is in exercise of its powers under the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended).
A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, noted: “To this effect, the current members of the Anambra State Caretaker Committees are to continue in their respective capacities for an additional duration not exceeding 30 days, beginning from the expiration of the present tenure on February 6, 2022 to March 6, 2022.
“The PDP urges all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our Party in Anambra state to remain united and focused as we work collectively to Rescue and Rebuild our nation from misrule.”
However, this Magazine gathered that the extension was to give the National Leader of the Party the time to put its Anambra house in order.
The PDP went into the November 6, 2021, Governorship election a fictionalized party, a consequence of the crisis that attended its Governorship Primary Election, which was finally sorted out by the Courts.
It has not recovered from it.
