The chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Anambra state Valentine Ozigbo has vowed to defeat the incumbent, Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA if he gets the APC ticket to run.
Ozigbo is currently in a legal battle against the 2025 APC Governorship candidate in the state, Nicholas Ukachukwu, he’s hoping that he will secure victory in the court to run in the November governorship election.
He spoke on Tuesday with Uche Nwora, a journalist at the Lagos airport, saying he has the magic wand to defeat Governor Soludo, a former central Bank governor.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has slated Saturday, November 8, 2025, for the conduct of the guber election.
According to him, Professor Soludo does not have a challenger in Ukachukwu, and that’s why the governor has been moving around as if “he does not have any challenger,” saying if the court pronounced him as APC candidate within few weeks to the election, he will shock critics by wining the election, adding that his people are desperately waiting for him to ‘fix’ the state.
Gbo: “The good news is that people are eagerly expecting me to come and fix Anambra, and the bad news now is that Soludo is going about the election as if he does not have any challengers, because he knows he does not
“People want to hear what I am going to do differently in insecurity, infrastructure, education, and healthcare, but I always tell people do look forward to first asking who this person is? People can pay consultants to write manifestos for them; that I will do this, I will do that, but can they be trusted? What is their level of emotional intelligence?
“I’m an investor, and I know that if you invest in the wrong person you are finished. Soludo told us about building an African Dubai Taiwan. Where is it today? The true question is who is Soludo? He should not have been entrusted with power in the first place.
“I am better prepared than he because at least I agree that I do not know certain things, I know my weaknesses and my positive sides.”
On whether he will support Ukachukwu if the court matter doesn’t go his way, he said: “If the party makes a mistake, I will leave the party in their mistake, that doesn’t mean I will leave the party.
“There is life beyond just the coming election. Some people already condemned me for joining APCs and they thought leaving Labour Party was suicidal, but in the fullness of time, they found out that was the best decision of my life,” the politician said.
Ozigbo was the PDP candidate for the 2021 governorship election in the state, won by Prof Soludo.
