Former National Auditor of the All Progressive Congress APC , George .Moghalu, has finally thrown his hat into the gubernatorial ring of Anambra State.

The Source reports that early next year ,the job of  Governor Charles Soludo will be at stake for either him to renew and/or make way for another, according to the whim and caprices of the electorate.

Moghalu,  the Chief Executive made his intentions known on Saturday October 5, 2024 while interacting with the media at his residence in Nnewi .

He informed that Governor Soludo, having disappointed the good people of Anambra has to be replaced, hence his  decision  to offer himself as a viable alternative.

For the records, before his sudden death ,Senator Ifeanyi Uba from the same Nnewi axis was set to slug it out with Governor Soludo.

In fact, he had told any one that cared to listen that he was as good as the next Governor of Anambra State .

He, however, died in London about two months ago .

Before, his declaration, speculations had been rife that Moghalu will be stepping into the shoes of the late Senator Uba by contesting the vacant  Anambra South. Senatorial seat .

However, Moghalu one of the founding scions and chieftains of the now defunct All Peoples Party APP, at the onset of the current democratic experience in 1999, has rejected harbouring any Senatorial ambition at any point .

He informed that he will be jostling for the Anambra gubernatorial seat on the platform of the Labour Party, LP.

The Source reports that Moghalu had, on October 1, formally joined forces with the LP, having earlier exited the APC.

He noted that his decision to join the 2025 Anambra state Governorship race was arrived at after extensive consultations with all relevant organs ,including his immediate family members.

“Before I did so ( joined LP ,and the Governorship race ) ,I consulted my wife ,and children ,my followers and friends ,and I was convinced that Labour Party is the party that aligns with my person and the best suited platform to realize my ambition .

“We need to redeem Anambra fast because Soludo has failed the people .There is dearth of infrastructure in the state and security has collapsed.

“We will not tolerate him.( Governor Soludo)  any further. What he could not do in four years ,he will never be able to do in eight years .You don’t need eight years to develop Anambra” Moghalu stated .

But the former APC top shot, will  contend first with the likes of Valentine Ozoigbo within the LP fold before facing Governor Soludo ,who baring any last minute development will be flying the ticket of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA .

For one, apart from joining the  rank of LP and declaring to contest before Moghalu, Ozoigbo is considered as a veteran when it comes to the jostle for the Anambra seat of power .

He flew the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP last term and lost to Governor Soludo.  He is set to try once again, but this time on the platform of LP, having earlier left the PDP.

However, Moghalu is optimistic that the zoning arrangement which presently domiciles the Governorship seat in the Anambra South where he hails from together with Suludo tilts the scale in his favour.

He promised to spend only one term since Governor Soludo has already used the first four years of the available two terms.
