A factional leader of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Rivers State, Chukwuemeka Eze, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, said that the former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, is on a mission to recover the State from political buccaneers who have made it a laughing stock.
This is as he noted that those who hitherto thought that the immediate past Minister of Transportation under the administration of late President Muhammadu Buhari was finished politically are now scrambling to join the Coalition platform, African Democratic Congress, ADC, being co-midwifed by him.
Eze, one of the chieftains of the APC factions loyal to the former Transportation Minister in Rivers State, noted that the decision of Amaechi to move with the Coalition forces has turned out to be a political masterstroke that has in the main, unsettled not a few foes both within and outside the State.
The APC stalwart expressed profound optimism that the unprecedented enthusiastic crowd that trooped out on Wednesday to welcome back the Rivers State former Governor in Port Harcourt was an eloquent testimony that the 2027 general elections will usher in a new dawn in the governance space of Nigeria, particularly in Rivers state.
According to Eze,vthere is presently a serious shockwave in the camps of the opponents, owing to the popular enthusiasm that have greeted the birth of the ADC Coalition project.
While lauding the role of the former Minister of Transportation in the formation of the opposition Coalition as a veritable platform to end the APC impunity at the centre, Eze described the move as both historic and impactful.
“For Amaechi to dump the APC ,a party he midwifed and brought to limelight with some Nigerians, I can authoritatively say he is on a mission to recover Rivers State from the hands of undemocratic forces that have turned the state into a laughing stock amongst democratic society.
“The mammoth crowd that took to the street to accord Amaechi a rousing welcome back to the State demonstrates the acceptance of ADC as the party to form the next Government in Rivers come 2027.
“Without mincing words, the crowd has shown that Amaechi is loved and admired by Rivers people; it is a testament to the fact that his love for the development of, and emancipation of the State, and its people is unparalleled and infectious.
“With the key role Amaechi is now playing in the repositioning of the ADC and the Coalition for the eventual ouster of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration, most of the people who had thought that he is finished politically are pleading to join the 2027 ADC train”, Eze stated .
The Source reports that Amaechi, who on Tuesday, July 22, formally renounced his membership of the APC, was on Wednesday, July 23 , received by ADC faithful and supporters to the State, after participating actively in the birthing of the Coalition platform on July 2, 2025.
