The Imo State Police Command has reassured of its commitment towards properly securing the State, as well as ensuring peace and security.

This is just as it, on Friday, June 21, 2024, dismissed as unfounded and clearly misleading a recent security alert call suggesting that there is an upsurge in kidnappings and other criminal activities in some parts of Imo State.

A statement issued by the Command’s Spokesman, Henry Okoye, attributed the false security alert to the handiwork of mischief makers out to create panic and erode public trust in the ability of security agencies to protect law abiding citizens and residents of the State.

The Source reports that in the last two days some  nebulous entities have been issuing social media statements warning residents and visitors alike to be wary of Avu and Obinze areas of the state.

Some of the warning notes mentioned how kidnappers and  other criminal elements have been  abducting travelers and others along the Port Harcourt/Owerri road indiscriminately.

“The Command views this recent publication as the  handiwork of mischief makers who are trying to create unwarranted panic, negativity and palpable fear in the minds of Imolites
