Human Rights Activists, Aisha Yesufu and Charles Oputa, popular as Charly Boy have lashed Deji Adeyanju for accusing Peter Obi of corruption allegations. Both dismiss it as false.

Yesufu has, however, called on Adeyanju to present the evidence he claims to have against the former Anambra State Governor and 2027 Presidential hopeful, Obi.

Yesufu, a vocal and ardent supporter of Obi, said she and many other Nigerians would not support a fraudulent politician. She  welcomed the Court case Obi has filed against Adeyanju and looks forward to seeing the alleged proof Adeyanju claims he has.

Adeyanju, a lawyer, activist and social commentator, recently accused Peter Obi  of being a fraud, a manipulator, and a religious bigot.

These claims have sparked outrage and debate on social media, with many Obi supporters dismissing them as false and politically motivated.

Adeyanju has repeated his claims in multiple posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), insisting that Obi is not the honest leader many believe him to be.

He also dared the former Labour Party Presidential Candidate to sue him so he could present his evidence.

Reacting to Adeyanju’s claim of having evidence against the former Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019, Yesufu says, “Barrister Deji Adeyanju has repeatedly said that he has evidence to show that Mr. Peter Obi is a fraud. As a supporter of Mr. Peter Obi, I am interested in the evidence the Barrister has. I would not be one to give support to anyone that is fraudulent.

“This case will offer me and millions of others the opportunity to have access to the evidence Barrister Deji has so we know whether to continue our support for Mr. Peter Obi or withdraw it.”

She praised Obi’s decision to seek redress in court rather than using State Security agencies to silence his critic.

“Mr. Peter Obi going to court is the civil thing to do. Where one is defamed, especially from a lawyer, then one should go to court.”

“If Mr. Peter Obi had used the machinery of the State to get Barrister Deji arrested and thrown into jail like many of the dictators we fight are doing, then I would be leading a #FreeDejiAdeyanju campaign and calling out Mr. Peter Obi.”

In the same vein, Charly Boy in a statement posted on X expressed his anger at Adeyanju’s claims that Obi tried to bribe him during the 2023 Presidential Election campaign.

According to Adeyanju, Obi allegedly invited him to a meeting, during which he offered him money in a brown envelope, which Adeyanju claimed to have rejected.

However, Charly Boy quickly dismissed these allegations, labeling them as false and irresponsible.

He accused Adeyanju of spreading lies to gain attention and please his “paymasters,” a phrase often used to refer to those who allegedly sell their principles for financial gain.

“Deji Adeyanju, na wa for you o! You don carry ya mouth waka go where e no belong. Na so so lie lie and yeye talk you dey yarn about Peter Obi, just to trend and please ya paymasters,” Charly Boy wrote, using Pidgin in his post.

He also criticized Adeyanju for turning himself into an “errand boy” for what he described as “chop money politics” – a phrase commonly used to refer to the politics of greed and self-interest.

“Obi na man wey still get small conscience for this obodo wey don spoil finish. Na him still dey give millions of Nigerians hope say beta Nigeria dey possible,” Charly Boy said.

He also added that Adeyanju was only chasing clout, seeking attention by attacking Obi.

Charly Boy emphasized that no one should be allowed to tarnish Obi’s reputation with baseless accusations, especially when there was no evidence to back up Adeyanju’s claims.

He also warned Adeyanju that his “reckless and irresponsible behavior” could lead to legal consequences.

“If you no get respect, at least get small sense. This ya reckless and irresponsible behavior fit make you chop legal breakfast,” Charly Boy cautioned, referencing possible legal action that could follow the defamatory claims.

Ike Abonyi, a Journalist, has also dismissed Adeyanju’s claims that Obi offered him money as false. Abonyi in a statement said he was present at the meeting Obi had with Adeyanju and wondered where and how Obi offered Adeyanju a brown envelope which he rejected. Abonyi, who expressed shock at Adeyanju’s claims said: “These are lies from the pit of hell.”
