After what some people insist was a protracted illness, Senator Ayogu Eze finally succumbed to death on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
He died at an Abuja hospital of an undisclosed ill-health.
The ill-health had, last year, prevented the Senator from attending his daughter’s wedding in Lagos.
Born on Nivember 25, 1958, Eze, an accomplished Journalist, who had worked with National Media Houses including the defunct Newswatch, joined politics and represented Enugu Senatorial District in the Senate from 2007 to 2015 on the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
However, he was not able to have any other successful outing, politically, after his second term as a Senator ended in 2015. His aspiration to be the Governor of Enugu State did not materialise the two times he tried.
While in the Senate, he was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information in his first tenure, and Chairman, Works Committee in his second tenure. In 2023, Eze was confirmed as a Federal Commissioner for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission.
Senator Eze died at the age of 65.
