Chieftains of the Yoruba socio cultural organization, Afenifere converged at the premises of the octogenarian leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti on Sunday to receive presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) Bola Tinubu.
Leaders including Chief Alani Akinrinade, Chief Olu Falae and other Chieftains in defiance of the stand of Chief Ayo Adebanjo, that is clamouring for a presidential candidate from south east, gave Tinubu a rousing welcome in Akure.
Chief Adebanjo, who is the national leader of Afenifere, has endorsed Peter Obi, candidate of Labour Party, (LP) believing that since south west has had its turn in the presidency, south east should be given a chance.
Tinubu, used the occasion of the visit to receive the blessing of the National Leader of Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
He will also present his Action Plan on how to reposition the country to greatness to the leadership of Afenifere, the Yoruba cultural and political organisation.
Bayo Onanuga, Director of Media and Publicity of Tinubu/Shetimma Presidential Campaign Council, stated that during the visit, Tinubu will present 80-page Action Plan document on how he intends to tackle the economic and other problems the country is grappling with to Pa Fasoranti and other leaders of Afenifere.
The manifesto, christened Renewed Hope, was formally launched in Abuja on 21 October by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the statement, “The APC torch bearer will speak on his plans before the Yoruba group, led by Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
“He will on Tuesday in Lagos discuss with the chambers of commerce in the South West on how he intends to improve the economy of Nigeria, to achieve a double-digit growth.”
It will be recalled that on penultimate Monday, Tinubu addressed a coalition of Arewa groups in Kaduna during which he highlighted the key elements of the plan, especially as they benefit the people of Northern Nigeria.
