It took the Super Eagles of Nigeria just 23 minutes to open scores against the Crocodiles of Lesotho at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, Nigeria, courtesy of Napoli Football Club of Italy Striker, Victor Osimhen.
Earlier, before kick-off, Captain of the team, Ahmed Musa and Coach Gernot Rohr had promised their host, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of victory. And this was brought to fulfilment.
From the blast of the whistle, the Super Eagles attacked their visitors, not giving them any breathing space.
Having introduced new players to the starting line- up as against the team that started in Benin Republic. Francis Uzoho replaced Maduka Okoye in the goal post.
Tyronne Ebuehi started ahead of Olaoluwa Aina, with Etebo Oghenekaro and Alex Iwobi in the heart of the midfield, while Joe Aribo and Wilfried Ndidi were left on the bench.
The national team was a thorn in the flesh of the Lesotho Players, bit couldn’t add a second goal in the first 45 minutes.
Less than five minutes into the the second half, Etebo added a second, before substitute, Paul Onuachu who scored Nigeria’s solitary goal against the Squirrels of Benin Republic added the third goal.
With this victory, Super Eagles top the log with 14 points from six games. Winning four matches and drawing two, and have qualified for the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year. In deed, they played the Lesotho match for fun, as they had already qualified before the kick-off.
The next match for the Super Eagles will be the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where the National team will face Cape Verde, Liberia and, on Tuesday, Central African Republic.
