As the Super Eagles of Nigeria prepares for their third match in the qualification series for the 2021 African Cup of Nations against West African neighbours, Sierra Leone, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has announced that Stephen Okechukwu Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Delta State, will host the cracker.
NFF scribe, Mohammed Sanusi, revealed that the Nation’s football body has reached a conclusion on playing the AFCON qualifiers in Asaba.
He added that the NFF is also planning to re-grass the pitch before the encounter coming in March 2020.
The Super Eagles had earlier played its first home match against the Squirrels of Benin Republic at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, coming from behind to defeat the Beninoise team 2-1, courtesy of strikes from Victor Osimhen and Samuel Kalu.
The Coach Gernot Rohr-team also defeated the Crocodiles of Lesotho 4-2 in their second match in Maseru, Capital of Lesotho, to record a 100 percent win in the Qualifiers.
The choice of Asaba Stadium as against Uyo Stadium came as a surprise to soccer analysts and enthusiast, but the NFF revealed that due to paucity of funds, the Delta State Government had decided to host the match and pick other bills to ease the financial burden of the NFF.
