Adeleke’s Hope Dashed, As Appeal Court Upholds Oyetola Victory

The hope of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate In the last Osun State Governorship Election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, had been dealt a big blow following the Appeal Court ruling.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has set aside the judgement of the Osun State Governorship tribunal which nullified the election of Governor Gboyega Oyerola

In her lead Judgement, Justice Hannatu Sankey set aside the entire proceedings of the tribunal because of the faulty composition of the tribunal

The judgment is upheld by four Justices of the five-man panel.

INEC had declared Oyetola and the APC the winner of the Osun State governorship election on the basis of the cumulative results of the September 22, 2018 main election and the September 27, 2018 supplementary poll.

Following the refusal of Adeleke to accept the verdict of INEC proceeded to the electoral tribunal, in which he was declared winner, forcing Oyetola and the APC to proceed to the Appeal Court.
