Nicolas Felix, a former All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared the opposition African Democratic Congress, ADC, as a mere media creation which has not capacity to defeat the ruling party in the 2027 election.
The former presidential hopeful said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will defeat the ADC hands down with 15 million votes inn the next presidential election in the country.
He made this remark in Niger state on Thursday while distributing fuel to Nigerians as part of his philanthropic efforts to help the residents.
The country is set for another presidential election in two years time, and some critics of the Tinubu administration said the ruling party could lose power to the opposition particularly the ADC, recently adopted by opposition forces in the country to dislodge President Tinubu from power.
In the ADC are key opposition politicians such as Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, former governors such as Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, Nasir El Rufai, former Senate President David Mark, a former APC National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun, amongst others.
According to Felix, the ADC is just a paper tiger that is not capable of dislodging the president from office, saying Tinubu will win the election with at least 15 million votes, noting that the ADC is not a “threat” to the ruling APC and the president.
He stressed that the ADC is not prepared to win the election because, as he claimed they are not campaigning, adding that when the time comes the APC will roll out the score card of President Tinubu to decide for themselves whether they will vote
Felix: ”In a democracy, you must have opposition. We are not threatened. They are out there campaigning. So far, we have not heard anything they want to do anyway. So for us as a party, I don’t see any threat here. There is no threat in this coalition. We want them to coalesce. Like I said the other day, they will gather, but they will scatter because they have nothing to offer. Their intention is not pure. Their motive is not pure.
“As far as we are concerned, and the APC, come 2027, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to have nothing less than 15 million votes. We know that is going to happen. So there is no threat with the ADC or whatever coalition. Let them come. When the time comes for campaigns, we are going to roll out the scorecard of Mr. President. Didn’t you watch on TV this morning, students on campuses singing, celebrating with joy, who just received the NELFund grant—over ₦100 billion—with no interest, by the way.
“I lived in America for 21 years; I had never heard that happen. Over ₦100 billion given to 600,000 students. So these 600,000 students—they will vote. Their families will vote because they know what it takes to go to school. So we are excited, and we know come 2027, it is going to be a walkover for us.”
Tinubu, the magazine recalls scored over eight million votes in the 2023 presidential election to defeat his opponents, Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP.
But the opposition says they are ready this time around to oust him from power, citing his alleged dismal performance in office since he became president on May 29, 2023.
