No fewer than 8000 entrepreneurs have enjoyed a total of N30 billion worth of credit facilities from the Herbert Wigwe-led Access Bank Plc, Nigeria’s biggest lender has said.
This is in spite of the COVID 19 headwinds which disrupted commercial banking activities in the first two quarters of the year.
The bank disclosed this on the crest of launching of SWIFTPAY, a seamless payment solution that enables customers to save time and money while making purchases on designated virtual platforms. The payment solution also enables small business owners to register and expand their payment services online, the retail lender said.
The DMB said it has also partnered with Google to help train about 10,000 customers, to equip small business owners with requisite skills to manage their businesses online
Speaking on SWIFTPAY, the bank’s Group Head (Emerging) Businesses, Ayodele Olojede, said the payment solution is specifically designed for small business owners, who, after registering can now transact theirbusinesses virtually without bordering on being physically present.
Olojede said the “customised debit card which comes with higher withdrawal limits and discounts for business owners. It will enable our customers to save money, save time and provide better customer experience for their clients as buying from your page, whether WhatsApp, Instagram and other social media channels make payments easier.
“So, whether you go out to your store or not, your sales continue with seamless payments online.
“In Access Bank we give small businesses loan without collateral but with satisfactory cash flow to pay back. So, we also support you to be able to sell and get paid easily.
“As soon as you open account (as an entrepreneur), we introduce you to a whole bouquet of digital offerings.”
