She never had the premonition that death was lurking around her. Neither did she know that she would bid the world farewell.
Sunday, March 7th, 2020 was a ‘Black Sunday, as lives and properties worth billions of Naira were lost to an unprecedented explosion which ignited an angry fire at the Abule Ado area of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State. It was a result of Petrol Pipeline Explosion.
Rev. Sister Henrietta Alokha, one of the victims of the Abule Ado fire was buried on Thursday amid tears from families, friends, well wishers, sympathizers, Students, Pupils, Residents of the area and the Christian community at large, came out enmasse to give the late Heroine, a befitting burial honour and last respect. She was the Principal of Bethlehem Girl’s School, owned by the Roman Catholic Church, and died shepherding her students to safety.
The people defied the Stay at Home order by the Government as a result of the deadly Pandemic, Covid-19, rocking the world to honour the late Principal.
She was trapped in the School building, paying with her life, as she couldn’t run out of the building after saving the students.
The smoke and fumes from the building were said to have suffocated her.
At her funeral rites, tributes poured in droves, as her resilience, steadfastness, commitment, love and passion for humanity were appreciated and recognised.
Officials of the State Government and Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area were also present to pay their last respect.
