Abia Security Taskforce Vehicle Tumbles, kills One, Injures Nine

The Abia State Governor Dr Alex Otti, on Monday, March 31, 2025, expressed sadness over a fatal accident involving the State’s Special  Security Taskforce, Operation Crush, on Sunday, March, 30, 2025.

The unfortunate road mishap which occurred on Umuahia/Bende road at about 6.30 pm, claimed the life of one of  the taskforce members. Nine  others sustained serious injuries.

A statement from the State Police Command on Sunday, informed that the accident led to the  death of an NSCDC personnel attached to the Taskforce while nine others, including three Police operatives were injured.

According to the Police, the operational vehicle of the taskforce team overturned ,while on their way to their base in Umuahia.

“The injured individuals were promptly taken to the FMC Umuahia where one NSCDC officer was pronounced dead while others are currently receiving medical care”, the police stated.

The Police further noted that  all the firearms belonging to the victims of the accident- both the deceased and injured, are in the custody of the Commander of the Operation Crush.

It stated that efforts were underway to recover the overturned vehicle at the scene of the accident.

In a statement on Monday issued by Ferdinand Ekeoma, his Media Aide, Governor Otti, commiserated with the top hierarchy of the Taskforce over the unfortunate incident.

The Abia state Governor also assured that the State Government will ensure that the injured receive adequate medical attention.

He commended the Special Security Taskforce for the laudable job it is doing in securing the State.

The Governor reaffirmed the commitment of his administration towards giving all the necessary support to Security Agencies in the State in the task of adequately protecting lives and properties of the people.
