Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing the Abia South Senatorial District at the Senate, has praised the determination and commitment of the Oha Ukwa Ngwa people, particularly the leadership of the Oha Ukwa Ngwa Congress Incorporated in ensuring that the voice of the people is heard in the political and socio-economic affairs of Abia State.
This is even as the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, has urged the umbrella body of the Ngwa ethnic Nationality, to initiate and pursue policies and programmes that will serve to actualize the dreams, vision and missions of the progenitors of Abia State.
Senator Abaribe and Governor Otti spoke separately on Monday March 1, 2024, at the inaugural lecture put together to herald the newly elected Executive members of the Oha Ukwa Ngwa Congress in Aba .
The Abia State Governor, who was represented at the occasion by his Chief of Staff,COS,Pastor Caleb Ajagba, emphasised the need for the new leadership of the Ukwa Ngwa bloc to inculcate a sense of unity ,togetherness and unity of purpose in the people ,so that the aspirations and goals of the founding fathers of the state will be realized .
Governor Otti, while assuring of carrying along every segment of Abia, and Abians in the governance of the state, noted that his administration is fully committed to the development of all parts of the State .
The Abia State Governor noted that already he has dedicated himself to fulfilling his electioneering promises to the good people of Abia , through ongoing construction and reconstruction of major and important roads ,quality service delivery in the education, Health sectors,provisions and rehabilitations of .infrastructural facilities, as well as ensuring regular payments of emoluments to workers and pensioners.
Senator Abaribe, saluted the doggedness, and commitment of the umbrella body of the Ngwa people ,in sustaining the struggle for the emancipation of the people.
On his part ,the Speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emmanuel Emereuwa himself a scion of Ukwa Ngwa Land, while promising the people of inclusion in the developmental programmes of the present Abia state Government,also said he is proud of his history, as an Ukwa Ngwa person.
The Source reports that ,the sociocultural umbrella body of the Oha Ukwa Ngwa people, was birthed at the tick of the political battle between Senator Abaribe then Deputy Governor,and his boss Former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu.
According to a former leader of the body ,the formation of Oha Ukwa Ngwa Congress in 1999 was a direct response to the unwarranted attempt by Former Governor Kalu to humiliate out of office ,Senator Abaribe ,his Deputy.
