The Bishop’s Chaplain  who was with them said he escaped being abducted because he wore a black Cassock, and lay flat on his belly when the abductors struck and took away the Bishop, his wife and driver into the deep forest.

According to the Chaplain, the vehicle they were traveling in developed a fault on the way, close to Oyo. His Bishop called the Bishop of Oyo for help. But before help could come, their abductors suddenly emerged from the forest and abducted them.
