By 11am, the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park at Ojota, Lagos, was filled with protesters who displayed placards and banners, demanding that President Muhammadu Buhari must go.

The protesters under the aegis of #TakeItBack and #RevolutionNow registered their displeasure against insecurity, poor economy, lawlessness, and other challenges in the country in a peaceful manner.

The protesters said that there was nothing to celebrate on the nation’s 61st Independence Day.

Despite the Presence of Security Operatives at the scene with 10 Hilux Vehicles, the Protesters chanted and displayed banners and placards that read, ‘Buhari Must Go’.

Segun Sanusi, one of the protesters at the scene said the nation is still in bondage and shackles of corrupt leaders who have milked the nation’s treasury.

He lamented that the President Buhari administration has failed Nigeria, despite high hopes that he would bring the desired change to the Nation when he got into the saddle as the President in 2015 and re-elected in 2019.

“What are we celebrating for? The nation is in a pathetic state economically, and those in Government have failed woefully. President Buhari should go, we want a viable leader that respects the rule of law and does not put the nation in debt by borrowing all over”.

There was, also, a similar protest in Abuja today.
