“The President has won 2027 already,” he declared.

The minister made the remark on Sunday at a reception in Ugheli, Delta state to welcome Great Ogboru into the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Keyamo’s comment however comes amid the groundswell of opposition to Tinubu’s plan to return to power in the next presidential election.

Key opposition leaders in the country, including Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Peter Obi of Labour Party, Musa Kwakwanso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP,  among others are currently in talks to form a coalition to oust the APC from power come 2027.

The three politicians contested the 2023 presidential election but lost to the incumbent, who the magazine learned is eyeing a second term in office, even though he’s yet to categorically declared his interest.

Keyamo said Delta, currently under the PDP will fall to APC in 2027 as there are ongoing reconciliation efforts to bring aggrieved members of the party together to strengthen the party’s base ahead the election, saying the party lost the last governorship election due to the division within.

With people like Ogboru who“ has been able to sustain his sprawling political base for ages, even without federal power,” the coast seems clear for the party to claim the state, he said, describing Ogboru as a great leader with massive grassroots support in the state.

According to him, “PDP will fall in Delta in the next political dispensation. The President has won 2027 already.

“Here in Delta State, we lost 2023 simply because many stakeholders left APC in anger.

“But presently, we look forward to the future with much more certainty because the Olorogun Otega Emerhor-led reconciliation committee, together with the college of leaders, have worked very well in restoring unity to the Delta APC.”

Ogboru is a serial governorship candidate in the state.
