Abdulrasaqis from the region and has been pointedly accused of nepotistic behavior in selecting  the adhoc-staff for the 2025 Hajj operations. He denied the report, saying all what the commission has done is to implement the Federal Character law in selecting staff who travel with pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for this year’s Hajj .

According to him, the commission did not favour the region, but only trying ensure that it has its fairly represented because, as of now the number of staff from the region is less than 10 percent of the Commission 420 workforce.

Out of the number, he pointed out barely 10 employees are form the south south part of the country, Abdulrasaq said, noting that the commission has remained transparent in the selection process so far.

He said, “The entire workforce of the National Hajj Commission is 420, and the South-South has less than 10 in the country. There is a need for federal character balancing.

“The percentage of staff from the south in the commission is not up to one per cent of the total workforce. The commissioner PPMF remains the most transparent.“

The allegation of nepotism against Abdulrasaq became rife following the recent inauguration of the Principal Officers of the National Medical Team, NMT,  and its Steering Committee for this year’s Hajjby the Commission Chairman/chief executive, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman.
