2023: Why Former Zamfara Governor Yari, Senator Marafa Dumped APC For PDP

There is mass exodus rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Zamfara State, as former Zamfara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari and strong APC Stalwart, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, have dumped the ruling APC for opposition Party,  Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The political stalwarts finally dumped the ruling APC and joined the PDP and were received by the Chairman of Party in the State, Retired Colonel Bala Mande.

Making the announcement of the defection of both Men after a stakeholders’ meeting in Gusau, the state capital, on Sunday, Mande revealed that they had sat down and finalised the issue of the defection of Yari and Marafa and they had reached an agreement to work for the development of the Party.

“We have all agreed to work for the development of the party and the PDP in the state has welcome them to its fold. We will ensure justice and fairness to all members even after we have won elections in 2023.”

The date for their grand reception to our party will be announced later but we are going to implement all the agreements reached during the stakeholders meeting,” Col. Mande said.

The Chairman Publicity Secretary of Yari faction of the APC, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji, confirmed the development and the defection of both Men.

“Yes , it is true we are moving to opposition PDP, and this is all I can say for now,” Birnin Magaji said.

It will be recalled that both Yari and Marafa lost control of APC Structure in Zamfara State after Governor Bello Matawalle defected from the PDP to APC last year.

Since the recognition of Governor Matawalle as the  Leader of the Party in the State, he had been at loggerheads with Yari and Marafa, asking  those who could not recognise him as Zamfara APC leader to leave.
