Reminiscent of the Abacha era, when Youths were mobilized by one Daniel Kanu to campaign for Abacha to transmute to a civilian president, a group of youths has congregated in Kaduna to declare support for the Sanusi presidency come 2023, threatening to take him to court if he refuses to come out to campaign for the presidency. Kaduna is ruled by Nasir el Rufai, who was instrumental to Sanusi being brought back from banishment to Lagos after a Federal High Court has freed him. Rumors, however, are rife that the governor of Kaduna state’s hand may be in the sponsorship of the campaign. It is not clear whether it was part of the deal with Sanusi to project him since he himself-el Rufai-may likely not contest again since the Chief of staff to the President, Abba Kyari is said to be interested.

What is clear is that one Suleiman Shinkafi convened a group he called the “All Nigerian Youth Project” and kickstarted Sanusi’s Campaign Friday, march 20, by appealing to all Nigerians with Presidential Ambition to bury it. He said Sanusi has the magic wand to defeat Boko Haram.

“We’re all Nigerian youth project agitating for Sanusi,” he said.

“With the situation in the country now only credible and stainless candidate, that is acceptable to all that’s needed. And we believe that Sanusi is acceptable to all and intellectually sound to turn things around for better for this country.

“Nigeria is a sinking sheep and need someone of high intellectual ability like him to rescue the country. Baba Buhari has done his best.”

Surrounded by branded campaign Vehicles, Shinkafi insisted they will source for the funding for his campaign expensis. They did not, however, state where the funding will come from. ‘

Sanusi arrived in Lagos in a chartered flight under controversial circumstances. While some Yoruba groups routed for him to leave Lagos, insisting that he wants to establish an Emirate in Lagos, Sanusi, a so called Lagos Boy (he went to Kings College Lagos), was visited by the Oba of Lagos to the anger of die hard Yoruba traditionalists who insisted that Sanusi aught to come to pay courtesy call on the Oba.

The Oba is a known Tinubu Loyalist.
