For a long time, little or nothing was heard about former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole. Suddenly, he zoomed back.
The former Ogun State Governorship Aspirant under Action Democratic Party, ADP, who recently joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, has joined the bandwagon of the long list of aspirants vying to occupy Aso Rock, after the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari’s term in the saddle.
Bankole has purchased the expression of interest and nomination forms at the APC National Secretariat after paying N100million.
The Former Speaker Bankole is joining the Presidential race after, according to him, consulting with stakeholders across the country.
He officially registered as a member of the APC in March 2021.
Bankole’s entry into the Presidential race now increases the number of aspirants from the South-West region seeking to take over from President Buhari.
Only in the South West, over Seven aspirants have indicated interest. They include; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun; Ekiti State Governor; Kayode Fayemi, and Pastor Tunde Bakare, the Founding Overseer of Citadel Global Church.
