Recall, however that in 2014, as a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, he failed to pick the ticket. The APC chose the now President Muhammadu Buhari over him.

Asked by Reporters if he was too old to run, considering the clamor for younger candidates, he said that the Youths are free to compete with him. “It is a competition”, he said.

Atiku spoke on Saturday, February 26 while answering a Reporter’s question after a closed door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was Obasanjo’s Vice President.

His visit is part of his consultation for the actualisation of his age long dream of becoming Nigeria’s President. In 2019, he was the PDP Presidential candidate. The meeting took place at Obasanjo’s Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The motive of the visit to the former President is for a crucial meeting which is aimed at plans of the Adamawa State born politician to stage a comeback to contest next year’s presidency.

Atiku arrived Obasanjo’s residence  around 10:10am and after the usual taking of photographs, the duo entered into a closed door meeting.

It would be recalled that Atiku has always been a regular caller at the Abeokuta abode of Obasanjo, especially during electioneering period.

Apart from meeting Obasanjo, Atiku and some PDP members also expect to meet the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.

It is not known how Atiku’s ambition will play out, considering the clamor for a Nigerian President of Southern extraction. As it is, the APC has, already, tacitly zoned its ticket to the South.
