Deji Adeyanju, an activist and social critic, has described the Peoples Democratic Party as a Party without any Leader.
Adeyanju, Co-convener of the Nigerians Concerned Group, in a tweet, said the Party’s Presidential candidate in the 2019 Presidential election, who should have been the Leader, and provided leadership, has since relocated to Dubai, and abandoned the Party.
He noted that only the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is currently providing some semblance of leadership to, and in the Party.
He revealed that for relocating to Dubai since after the Presidential election, not a few stakeholders in the Party are angry with Atiku, and would never agree to his becoming their Presidential candidate in 2023.
Adeyanju disclosed that Stakeholders were, instead, considering presenting either the Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal or his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed, as the Party’s flag bearer in 2023.
Adeyanju: “PDP, currently, does not have a leader. Only Wike is even trying to provide some form of leadership and funding for them. The Dubai guy is a clown.”
He also submitted that some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, were considering former President Goodluck Jonathan as the Party’s candidate.
He tweeted: “If APC decides to give Jonathan their ticket as proposed by some, the PDP will become empty before 2023. But nothing is certain in politics.”
Recall that Atiku had, also, travelled to Dubai in 2019 as soon as he was given the Presidential ticket after the Primary in Porthacourt, Rivers State. He was away for weeks. Many of his party men, at the time, criticized him behind him for that action, claiming it could affect the performance of the party.
