The Nigeria Super Sand Eagles ended the FIFA World Cup Championship in an humiliating fashion, losing to World Champions, Brazil, by 12 goals to 2.
Having lost its first two matches against Portugal and Oman, 10-2 and 6-5 respectively, beach soccer enthusiasts, and analysts, had predicted that the Super Sand Eagles will play for pride, and could possibly spring a surprise or lose mildly to the South American side, Brazil. Sadly, the African team was further humiliated.
In the history of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup that Nigeria has participated in, Nigeria had never conceded a whopping 28 goals in three matches.
In the other group game, Portugal defeated Oman 3-1 to book a place in the last eight of the competition, with both Nigeria and Oman booted out of the competition.
Nigeria ended the campaign scoring 8 goals and conceding 28 goals.
The other African team in the competition and the current African Champions, Senegal, booked a place in the quarter finals defeating Belarus and United Arab Emirates.
