Emerging reports indicates that El Zakzaky, the embattled Shiite leader, is rejecting treatment from doctors different from the ones approved for him before he left Nigeria.
In a press briefing by the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, the group insisted that Zakzaky is being treated by the Indian government as a common criminal, and they-the Indian Government-insists that he must be treated by doctors provided for him or go back to Nigeria. This, according to them, was because security agencies refused him using the doctors he knows.
Apparantly, Zakzaky does not trust the new doctors provided by India.
An IMN leader, Ibrahim Gamawa, said the Indian government has given Elzakzaky ultimatum to leave Indian soil if he refuses to receive treatment from unknown doctors billed to treat him. He, however, said that as at six o clock Indian local time, it has been settled. The Indian hospital has finally agreed to allow doctors he contacted before he left Nigeria ti treat him.
Reportedly, there was a demonstration at the Indian high commission in new Delhi by members of the IMN before the matter was laid to rest.
“The way that he is being treated is extremely bad”, the IHRC representative said.
Zakzaky traveled to India under controversial circumstances with both representatives of IMN and Nigerian security agencies after intervention of some international organizations.
